Our ordination calls us to foster a life of holiness.
We work to maintain our spiritual growth and health in order that we can say, “We are Diakonia, service in Christ for the world.”

Deacons Summer Retreat
“Believe, Teach, Practice”
Buffalo Deacon Retreat:
St Stanislaus Catholic Church
389 Peckham St, Buffalo, NY
August 1 – 3, 2025

Director: Deacon Gary Terrana
Cook and assistant: Deacon Timothy Chriswell

This retreat will be a period of prayer, reflection, and fellowship.
Come join your fellow deacons as we gather together to deepen our understanding of our call in the Church.
The retreat will be an opportunity for us to connect with each other, share experiences, and the practical aspects of our ministry through our service to our parish families.
We will reflect on our ministry as we recall the words spoken to us at our ordination that are at the heart of our Diaconal Ministry:
“Believe, Teach, Practice”

Family Assignments - Deacons

As we move forward in our Renewal, parishes will close, and others will become secondary worship sites. Some parishes will move to other families. I ask everyone to be patient. Once all the moves are completed, we will assess how many deacons each family can or needs to have (it will differ for each family, of course). As a reminder, you are assigned to a family, not a specific parish. For now, we will all stay with our assigned family, and opportunities to apply to a new family will become available.

With the number of parishes that filed for recourse, we are holding off on moving or having people apply for a different parish until we determine how many parishes will be in each family.
